ELECTIONS RESULTS

CeSID at the Elections

The Centre for Free Elections and Democracy - CeSID will monitor the second round of presidential elections on Sunday June 27th and have its monitors assigned to almost all of approximately 8,600 polling stations.

During the elections day, according to the well established practice, CeSID will hold a series of Press Conferences at the Media Centre in Belgrade, and present the information on turnout of voters, whereas just few hours after the closing of the polling stations, CeSID will also present the information on the Elections results and the regularity of the electoral process.

Estimations of voters’ turnout and elections results will be made based upon information obtained from the representative sample comprising more than 500 polling stations.

CeSID also launched the campaign “I Choose To Vote”, intended to stimulate the voters’ turnout in the presidential elections. CeSID believes that the matter of these elections is the election of person who will represent Serbia in the world, so it is necessary that as many voters as possible take part in the elections. The voters must be aware that by casting their votes they will say what do they want Serbia to be, and wherever one voter does not vote, there will be another one who will vote and elect the President of Serbia.

CeSID believes that these presidential elections will be the first real democratic elections for the President of Serbia. These elections will have an enormous significance for foundation of democratic institutions in Serbia. It takes a long time and lot of efforts to attain democracy and it is not possible to give up now, even though the voters are generally disappointed with the political scene and events surrounding democratisation of the society.

It is the opinion of CeSID that the voters’ register in these elections is the best possible, i.e. better than in any elections held so far.
